Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF has provided sub-financing grants to NGOs in seven municipalities to support the process of drafting Municipal Regulations and Strategy and the Action Plan on Children’s Rights.

Regulations on children’s rights have been approved in the following municipalities: Gjilan, Ferizaj, Fushë Kosovë, Lipjan, Gjilan, Ferizaj and Peja. After the approval of Regulations on Children’s Rights, municipalities have also begun the approval of Strategies and Action Plans. Sub – granted organizations which have supported drafting of Regulation and Strategy and the Action Plan on Children’s Rights are: SDSF, POLIS, AKTI Ngo, NOPM, YMCA, CRPK and OFAP.

Municipal Regulation and Action Plan on Children’s Rights aims to put in the center of their attention and reinstate as a priority in their municipal governance agenda the issues dealing with and related to children. These documents provide the opportunity for every municipality to engage and address issues related to children, aimed at implementing all the rights of children.

KOMF provide the regulation as a reference model to all municipalities of Kosovo, giving them an opportunity to replicate the process and the drafting of the Municipal Regulation and the Strategy and the Action Plan on Children’s Rights within their municipalities.

At the same time, KOMF calls on municipalities that have already adopted municipal Regulations and Strategies on children’s rights to start implementing them, thus contributing to improve the wellbeing of children.

This process has been supported in frame of the project “Protection of Child Rights in Kosovo” funded by EU and managed by the European Union Office in Kosovo and implemented by Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF.

The model of regulation is based on Regulation on the implementation of the rights of children through a child friendly municipal governance system that was approved by the Municipality of Gjakova within the project “Gjakova Child Friendly Municipality” and was supported by UNICEF Office in Kosovo.
