KOMF awards the “Friend of Children” Acknowledgements

Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo – KOMF, in partnership and supported by UNICEF Office in Kosovo, has awarded the acknowledgments “Friend of Children”, for the main contributors in the field of protection of children’s rights, during 2018.

“Friend of Children” Acknowledgments, provides an opportunity to publicly acknowledge efforts, engagement and energy of many corporate, businesses, personalities, individuals, who give an important contribution in Kosovo for the protection of children’s rights. At the same time, this is expected to impact on the education of the society to support the cause of child protection.

The speech were held by Mrs. Donjetë Kelmendi from KOMF, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Skender Reçica and Head of UNICEF Office in Kosovo, Mr. Murat Sahin.

The nominees for these acknowledgments have been numerous, but based on the criteria, the independent Evaluation Committee has selected to evaluate and award with the “Friend of Children” title 7 (seven) of them.

Friend of Children” acknowledgments were awarded for: Doctor Mazllum Belegu, who through the organization “Gift of Life” has sent hundreds of children with cardiac problems for health treatment in America; The family Lutfiu from Gjilan for years served for the benefit of children as a foster care family for children who have remained without parental care by turning their smile with the great love and incredible care for them; two private companies IPKO and Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo for the ongoing support they provide in the field of education and health for mothers and children in Kosovo; and to the three volunteers of SOS Children’s Village in Kosovo, teachers Aferdita Tahiri and Syrije Myftari who on a voluntary basis keep teaching children Mathematics and English, and Dea Nikqin, a creator who works voluntarily on new SOS Village’s postcards that have been serving for many years to collect donations for children without parental care.
