The Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo appreciates the fact that today the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo with 76 votes in favor and no counter adopted the Draft Law on Child Protection.
KOMF was an integral part of the working group for drafting the draft law and has consistently appealed for its approval.
KOMF, two days ago held an extraordinary press conference ahead of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, calling again to Kosovo Assembly to adopt the Draft Law on Child Protection as soon as possible. In addition, KOMF has submitted to the Assembly of Kosovo the document with the request for approval of the Draft Law on Child Protection.
The Draft Law on Child Protection aims to protect children from all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation, neglect or any other form that endangers the life, safety, health, education and development of the child. The draft law aims to guarantee and ensure the responsibilities of parents, family, guardianship authority, society and the state in protection and development of the child based on the best interest of the child as well as the establishment of the integrated and functional child protection system, for prevention and responding effectively to all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect.
At the same time, KOMF announces that tomorrow will organize a press conference for the next steps, recommendations and actions to be undertaken for the effective implementation of the Law after its entry in force.
