The Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo – KOMF announces that the Government of Kosovo has approved the request of KOMF for the inclusion of Kinship Care and Scheme for Material Support for Families of Children with Permanent Disabilities under the Emergency Fiscal Package. This was done through a decision taken by the Government of Kosovo on April 17, 2020. K

Two weeks ago, KOMF addressed the Minister of Finance, Besnik Bislimi, requesting the inclusion of the following categories in the Emergency Fiscal Package:

1. 1. The Scheme for Material Support for Families of Children with Permanent Disabilities
2. 2. Kinship Care and 3. Foster Care. In this regard, we highly appreciate the commitment of the Department of Social and Family Policies within the Ministry of Health, for the inclusion of these two schemes within the package.

The decision however does not foresee for the inclusion of Foster Care under the Emergency Fiscal Package. KOMF in cooperation with the Department of Social and Family Policy within the Ministry of Health, in the coming days, will continue to research the modalities of inclusion or support of Foster Care.

Given the fact that household spending has increased as a result of the situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that inclusion of these categories in the Emergency Fiscal Package will serve as support for children and families to more easily cope with this situation.
